The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged Treasurer Eric Abetz to stick to the Liberal’s election commitment of no new or increased taxes.

This follows Eric Abetz suggesting at Estimates yesterday that he was open to increased taxes.

> “Increased taxes are the last thing that Tasmanian households and businesses need”, TCCI CEO Michael Bailey said.

“The Government should be looking to rein in spending, not punish hard-working Tasmanian households and businesses for their out-of-control largesse.

“Minority Government is not an excuse to break election promises”, Mr Bailey concluded.
