Last week, the **Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry** launched a campaign calling on the Australian Government to fund the Launceston Sewer Transformation project.

This project is not just a sewerage project. It's an economic enabler.

We launched the campaign with the support of the **Housing Industry Association (HIA)** (Tasmania), **Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania Ltd**, the **Property Council of Australia** (Tasmania) and the **Launceston Chamber of Commerce**.

This campaign is being driven by industry because it will provide a much-needed economic boost for Northern Tasmania.

The campaign has already attracted strong support. I welcome the **Tasmanian Government** endorsement of the campaign, with Acting Premier **Bridget Archer MP** backing the project, along with the support of Opposition Leader Josh Willie. This reflects the importance of the project to Tasmania's economy.

This is exactly the type of investment Tasmania needs. Over the next 10 years, it would generate more than $2 billion in economic activity, support more than 6,000 jobs, and create capacity for 10,000 new homes. The project also provides a long-term pipeline of work for Tasmanian businesses, with more than 80 per cent of the work expected to be delivered by local contractors.

Importantly, Infrastructure Australia has already identified the project as a nationally significant priority.

We'll continue making the case for Australian Government investment because this is exactly the type of project that will help stimulate Tasmania's economy**.**
