The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the commencement of the EOI in Macquarie Point, with a call for local business to come first, second and third in the process to build the stadium.
TCCI Chair, Becher Townshend said Tasmania business have the skills and the capacity to build the stadium, from laying the foundations, to putting the last rivet in the roof.
“Our history of hydro industrialisation shows we can build structures that are world class using Tasmanian skills, business and innovation, so there is no reason why this should not be the case for the stadium,” Mr Townshend said.
“This is a Tasmanian taxpayer funded project and given this, it must be Tasmanian business that gets the work.”
