The TCCI is the voice of business in Tasmania, representing more than 1,500 businesses and reaching up to 20,000 Tasmanian businesses through the TCCI Chamber Alliance with regional chambers of commerce.
Ahead of the upcoming federal election, the TCCI is today releasing its federal election priorities.
TCCI Board members, Ian Jones and Claire Connelly, said the priorities had been developed after extensive consultation with members.
“Tasmania is at a crossroads,” Ms Connelly said.
“The business community needs the right supports in place from the federal government to attract investment, create jobs and support the communities right around the State that rely on the businesses we represent.”
The TCCI has identified three key priorities:
· Making the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme fairer
· Delivering Marinus Link
· Making sure the EPBC Act is fit for purpose
Ian Jones said that each of the priorities addressed business community concerns.
“Tasmania exports to interstate and international markets are worth nearly $27 billion, and we need to make sure the TFES is fit for purpose,” he said.
“Marinus Link will unleash a wave of investment that will create jobs, ensure we are generating enough renewable energy to grow our economy and will help the nation transition away from fossil fuels.
“Making sure the EPBC Act is fit for purpose will support industry, especially in regional communities.”
