TCCI welcomes Labor’s GBE policy

The TCCI is the voice of business in Tasmania and has welcomed Labor’s GBE policy, released today.

TCCI CEO, Michael Bailey, said it was clear something needs to be done about the way Government Business Enterprises and State-Owned Companies are managed in Tasmania.

“There are significant issues affecting just about every Government Business Enterprise and State-Owned Company in Tasmania at the moment,” Mr Bailey said.

“It’s the job of our elected leaders to come up with practical solutions to tackle these problems and what Labor has announced today is a good start.

“We are not going to fix the issues we’re seeing unless there is real and genuine change and Labor has come up with a sensible approach that the TCCI supports.

“We hope the Government is prepared to look closely at Labor’s proposal and act in the best interests of the community, who ultimately own the GBEs and SOCs.”
