The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes the Government’s Strategic Benefit Payment Scheme for landholders hosting Stage 1 of the North West Transmission Developments required for Project Marinus.

TCCI Chief Executive said the package is a practical step to delivery certainty for critical energy infrastructure that underpins jobs, investment and lower power prices.

“Why this matters to business is because it unlocks timely delivery of North West transmission and Marinus Link—core planks of TCCI’s Vision 2028 energy priorities.

“It supports price stability by progressing projects that expand clean generation and interconnection, consistent with TCCI’s aim for power bill increases at or below CPI.

“Provides clearer, CPI-indexed payments to landholders alongside Land Acquisition Act compensation, reducing project risk and delays,” Mr Bailey said.
