TCCI welcomes RACT/NRMA announcement

The TCCI has welcomed today’s announcement that the NRMA will purchase the RACT’s tourism properties.
TCCI Chief Operating Officer, Colleen Reardon, said that this was a massive vote of confidence in Tasmania’s tourism industry.
“These are some of Tasmania’s most popular tourism destinations and we welcome the fact that they are being transferred to RACT’s sister organisation, NRMA,” Ms Reardon said.
“NRMA’s commitment to invest in and upgrade the facilities right around the State will be a huge boost to our construction industry and the economy more broadly, especially in the regional communities where these properties are located.
“The NRMA is based in New South Wales and with nearly 3 million members, is Australia’s largest member organisation. Tasmania will now be promoted to the NRMA’s membership and we would expect to see visitor numbers from New South Wales to increase substantially in the months and years ahead.
“Importantly, there will be no impact on jobs with the NRMA looking to keep on the exceptional Tasmanian-based workforce.”
