TCCI welcomes Spirit replacement decision, more detail needed on local content

The TCCI welcomes the Government’s announcement today regarding replacement of the Spirit of Tasmania vessels.

 

TCCI CEO, Michael Bailey, said the decision ended months of uncertainty and presented a way forward.

 

“This is a good outcome for Tasmanian business. In particular, it’s a great outcome for tourism and freight,” Mr Bailey said.

 

“The TCCI’s position is clear – we want a reliable service with increased visitor and freight capacity to meet the growth in Tasmania’s tourism industry and export businesses.

 

“We also welcome the decision to maximise benefits to Tasmanian businesses, but we would like to see more detail on what this would actually involve.”
